Red Sox Shake Up Bullpen Before Pivotal Yankees Matchup

These optioned had a rough Friday night

The Red Sox made multiple roster moves to their bullpen before their Saturday matinee matchup against the New York Yankees.

Boston announced in a press release that it recalled Bailey Horn from Triple-A Worcester and selected Zach Penrod to the active roster from Triple-A Worcester. Relievers Cam Booser and Zack Kelly were optioned to the WooSox. Catcher Tyler Heineman was designated for assignment.

Penrod pitched 35 1/3 innings for Double-A Portland and 27 1/3 innings for Triple-A Worcester, recording a 4.16 ERA with 93 strikeouts this season. The Red Sox signed the left-handed pitcher was signed last offseason.

Horn has a 6.35 ERA in 17 innings with Boston this season. He was acquired from the Chicago White Sox this season and also owns a 2.25 ERA in 28 innings with 32 strikeouts with Triple-A Worcester.

Kelly and Booser had forgettable outings Friday night after the duo allowed a combined five innings, including an Aaron Judge grand slam, that helped the Yankees come back from a 4-0 deficit. Kelly had a 3.97 ERA in 56 2/3 innings with 61 strikeouts with Boston this season. Booser had a 3.38 ERA in 42 2/3 innings with 43 strikeouts with Boston this season.
