Christian McCaffrey already is out and Deebo Samuel likely is, too
The San Francisco 49ers definitely will be without star running back Christian McCaffrey when they host the New England Patriots in Week 4. The Niners likely will be without standout wide receiver Deebo Samuel, too. But they might not be the only San Francisco skill-position players to watch the game from the sideline.
49ers tight end George Kittle is dealing with hamstring tightness, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Kittle’s status for San Francisco’s Week 3 game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday is in question, per Schefter.
While the 49ers still have more than one week before the Patriots take the field at Levi’s Stadium, it’s certainly possible they’re without Kittle in Weeks 3 and 4. Hamstring injuries, after all, can linger depending on the severity.
It would be a massive break for the Patriots if the 49ers are without McCaffrey, Samuel and Kittle. Any one of those absences would be a break never mind all three.
The Patriots won’t concern themselves with Kittle’s injury status in the short-term.
New England will face the New York Jets in a Week 3 game on Thursday night. But following New England’s contest in the Meadowlands, and the team’s mini bye week, the Patriots will be paying attention to what’s unfolding in the Bay Area.
