Tom Brady Fires Back At Baker Mayfield’s ‘Stressed Out’ Comment

'If I wanted to have fun, I would’ve went to Disneyland with my kids'

Tom Brady was one of the most obsessive winners in NFL history, and the former New England Patriots quarterback reminded fans of that Sunday.

Baker Mayfield caused a stir when he highlighted how Brady created a “stressed out” environment in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers locker room when he signed with the NFC South side last season.

Brady was on the call for the Bucs’ matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles and took his chance to respond.

“I thought stressful was not having Super Bowl rings so there was a mindset of a champion that I took to work every day. This wasn’t daycare,” Brady said on the FOX broadcast, per Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press. “If I wanted to have fun, I would’ve went to Disneyland with my kids.”

The scoreboard speaks for itself with Brady’s seven Super Bowls, including one with Tampa Bay, compared to Mayfield, who hasn’t made it past the divisional round in seven seasons.

But in fairness to the 29-year-old, his comments overall were about Tampa Bay putting trust in him after Brady retired and expectations were low. The Buccaneers surpassed expectations and were better in 2023 compared to Brady’s final season with the Bucs.

Brady and Mayfield met before the game, which could have been their chance to talk things out face-to-face. There wasn’t any stress seen from Tampa Bay in Week 4 when it went ahead 24-0 through the middle of the second quarter Sunday.
