'Life is too short to not have fun'
Tom Brady always was laser-focused as an NFL quarterback, but the seven-time Super Bowl champion won’t take himself as seriously in his new line of work.
Scott Hanson playfully ribbed Brady for staying too buttoned-up during his broadcasting debut Sunday in Cleveland. FOX’s new lead color commentator had a pretty mild-mannered reaction to Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey initially lining up to attempt a 71-yard (!) field goal, which prompted Hanson to tell Brady to “get more excited in the booth.”
While it clearly was a joke, the RedZone host on Monday nonetheless apologized to the future Hall of Famer for his “unfair and inconsiderate” remark. Brady eventually responded and assured Hanson that he had no problem with the friendly dig.
“This rookie appreciates you @scotthanson!” Brady posted to X. “No apology necessary my man, life is too short to not have fun! We’re officially on 70-yarder watch and I’m gonna spike my headset when it happens.”
Perhaps Brady will see a 70-yard attempt Sunday when he calls another Cowboys game. Aubrey appears to have the leg for it, and America’s Team will be in a controlled environment in Week 2 when it hosts Derek Carr and the New Orleans Saints.
