Why Jacoby Brissett Was Forced To Make Outfit Change Right Before Presser

Brissett needed to pay up after losing a bet

Jacoby Brissett donned a New England hat when he met with the media Wednesday, but the Patriots weren’t the only team he represented at his latest press conference.

Brissett also rocked a Tennessee Volunteers sweatshirt three days after leading New England to a season-opening win in Cincinnati. The hoodie was given to him by head coach Jerod Mayo, who stepped in with the garb right before Brissett fielded questions. The outfit change was the result of a lost bet, as Mayo’s alma mater destroyed Brissett’s (North Carolina State) in Charlotte last Saturday.

Mayo wasn’t the only Patriots colleague who enjoyed the Vols’ Week 2 blowout win at Brissett’s expense. So did one of the veteran signal-caller’s backups, Joe Milton, who was Tennessee’s starter last season.

Perhaps Mayo and Milton will be looking to make another wager with a Patriots starter in a few weeks when the Vols play one of the most highly anticipated games on their 2024 schedule. Tennessee will spend Week 4 of the college football season in Oklahoma, where Rhramondre Stevenson served as a Sooners running back for two campaigns before New England selected him in the fourth round of the 2021 draft.
