Bruins Wrap: Fourth Line Continues To Shine In Boston’s Loss Vs. Panthers

Boston falls to 2-2-0 on the season

BOSTON — The Bruins dropped their second game against the Panthers this season, this time 4-3 at TD Garden on Monday afternoon.

Boston moved to 2-2-0 with the loss, while Florida improved to 2-2-0.

ONE BIG TAKEAWAY
The Bruins wanted to come out against the Florida Panthers and play disciplined hockey. That was the game plan Jim Montgomery put into place for Boston. They also wanted to come out with effort and execution and start on time. They definitely started on time — potting the game’s first goal in the first five minutes of the contest. However, the discipline kind of went by the wayside when two hits on star David Pastrnak sparked a couple of fights in the opening frame.

Besides the physical brand of hockey displayed in the first period, the Bruins’ fourth line of Mark Kastelic, Johnny Beecher and Cole Koepke continued to drive Boston’s offense by contributing to all three goals. Kastelic led the way with three assists, followed by Beecher with a goal and an assist.

Along with the fourth line, the Bruins defensemen got on the board with goals from Brandon Carlo and Mason Lohrei. Both goals were generated by the hard-working shifts from the Kastelic, Beecher and Koepke.

STARS OF THE GAME
— Kastelic was all over the ice with three helpers, including Boston’s first goal when his shot deflected off Beecher’s shin and past Sergei Bobrovsky for a 1-0 lead.

— Carlo lit the lamp for the first time this season to tie the game at two in the second period.
