Davante Adams Landing Spots: Patriots Rival Clear Contender For Star

Davante Adams wants out of the desert and the Las Vegas Raiders reportedly are going to oblige his request.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday that the Raiders have informed teams around the NFL that they would “consider” moving the disgruntled star wide receiver for a second-round draft pick and additional compensation.

Some teams might be chomping at the bit to add a player of Adams’ caliber — he’s a three-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowler. The New England Patriots are in desperate need of a dynamic outside threat, but it appears unlikely that they would pony up the draft capital amid a complete rebuilding season to land Adams, who makes $17.5 million this season but will make more than double at $36.25 million for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

Those salaries might scare off some potential suitors, but Adams’ terrific talent could force teams to turn a blind eye to the money in hopes of acquiring a game-changing wideout.

So what teams could Adams be traded to in the near future? Here are four possible destinations for Adams, including a Patriots rival that makes a ton of sense.

New York Jets
That Patriots rival is the J-E-T-S. And Adams’ connection to the Jets is due to the 40-year-old quarterback New York employs.

Adams and Aaron Rodgers played eight seasons together with the Green Bay Packers in which Adams and Rodgers enjoyed tremendous production. Adams made 669 receptions for 8,121 yards with 73 touchdowns during his time with the Packers.

The Jets certainly are in win-now mode with the oldest starting quarterback in league under center and maximizing their window is a top priority. They already tried to swing a big trade this offseason by trading for pass rusher Haason Reddick, but he’s holding out over a contract dispute. Perhaps, it’s time for New York to swing another blockbuster trade on the other side of the ball.

The Jets obviously would love to reunite Adams and Rodgers to spark New York’s offense, which has been lackluster through four weeks. And it seems Adams would be on board with playing for the Jets, too, as he was asked on “Up and Adams” on Tuesday if he missed playing with Rodgers.

“How could you not?” Adams said, per CBS Sports.

Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers already failed at trying to land a big-name wide receiver when they couldn’t complete a deal for San Francisco 49ers pass-catcher Brandon Aiyuk.

That was before the Steelers started the season off win three straight wins before falling this past Sunday to the Indianapolis Colts. But a 3-1 start behind the surprising play of Justin Fields and a stalwart defensive unit could make Pittsburgh aggressively buy before the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 5.

Adding a playmaker like Adams would certainly help continue Fields’ turnaround. The Steelers don’t have another strong wide receiver to play off of George Pickens and Adams’ presence in that offense would raise it to a new level.

Washington Commanders
The Commanders, like the Steelers, would be another team trying to build off a strong start.

Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels certainly has been impressive just four games into his NFL career — 82.1% completion percentage, 897 yards passing, three passing touchdowns, one interception, four rushing touchdowns — and that’s just with one premier wide receiver in Terry McLaurin to throw to.

Bring in Adams, who caught 18 passes for 209 yards and a touchdown this season with the Raiders, and Washington’s big-play potential skyrockets even more.

The Commanders currently are in first place in a wide open NFC East and getting Adams would go a long way in helping keep them in that spot.

Kansas City Chiefs
All other 31 NFL teams have to be rooting against the Chiefs getting a bright, shiny new toy for Patrick Mahomes.

But with there fears that the dynamic Rashee Rice tore his ACL this past Sunday against the Chargers and Hollywood Brown expected to be out for the season, it opens up an avenue where it’s conceivable for the Chiefs to go after Adams with NFL history in a three-peat on the line.

Kansas City’s wide receiver group right now consists of rookie Xavier Worthy, Justin Watson, Skyy Moore, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman.

No NFL team will fear that. But put Adams’ name in front of that group and it becomes a nightmare for the rest of the league.
