Jaelan Phillips was one of Miami's top defenders
The Miami Dolphins will be without one of their premier defenders when they face the New England Patriots in a Week 5 contest.
Dolphins edge rusher Jaelan Phillips announced Wednesday he suffered a season-ending knee injury that will require surgery.
Phillips was Miami’s highest-graded pass rusher through four games, per Pro Football Focus. He started three of four contests and recorded two quarterback hits, two passes defensed and one sack.
Phillips was a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft but has struggled to stay healthy (46 games in four seasons).
The Patriots and Dolphins will take the field at Gillette Stadium at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
