Eliot Wolf Needs To Step Up For Patriots As Trade Deadline Nears

Wolf needs to make some moves before Tuesday

The clock is ticking on Eliot Wolf’s first trade deadline as the New England Patriots executive vice president of player personnel.

And thus far Wolf has “failed” to deliver ahead of judgement day, according to NESN’s George Balekji.

During the latest episode of NESN’s “Foxboro Rush” podcast, NESN.com’s Sean McGuire and Balekji unpacked New England’s trade of pass-rusher Joshua Uche and weighed in on which Patriots players should be dealt before the deadline.

“I want to see more from Eliot Wolf,” Balekji said. “Because if you look at his free agency signings, seven of the 15 guys they signed, whether re-signed or brought in as outside free agents, have been duds.

“Eliot Wolf, as a general manager, you are assessed by free agency, by the draft and by the trade deadline. And so far he’s failed at all three.”

McGuire labeled K.J. Osborn, Jonathan Jones and Kendrick Bourne as three players most likely to be dealt. Balekji agreed on Osborn and included Sidy Sow and Tyquan Thornton as other candidates.
