Look For These Red Sox Connections In Dodgers-Yankees World Series

There's stars upon stars with Red Sox connections

The Boston Red Sox have not won the World Series since 2018, though they have plenty of fingerprints across the rosters as the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees meet in the Fall Classic in 2024.

Here’s a few Boston connections to follow during the 2024 World Series.

YANKEES
OF Alex Verdugo

The Red Sox traded Verdugo to the Yankees last winter for a trio of right-handed pitchers. Verdugo definitely did not have the most consistent season, but he added solid defense alongside New York’s star slugging outfielders, Aaron Judge and Juan Soto.

Verdugo faces off against the team that traded him to Boston in 2020 against the star player he got traded for.

DODGERS
Manager Dave Roberts
INF/OF Mookie Betts
RHP Ryan Brasier
RHP Michael Kopech
INF/OF Kiké Hernández

RHP Joe Kelly (Injury)

Dave Roberts has the chance to break the Yankees’ hearts again, just days removed from the 20th anniversary of his stolen base that ignited the historic ALCS comeback for the Red Sox on the way to the 2004 World Series.

Betts will be the name that draws the most Red Sox recollection this series. The 2018 American League MVP won his first ring and hit his first postseason home run when the Red Sox clinched the 2018 World Series in five games. Betts chases his third World Series title against his former AL East rivals.

Ryan Brasier also won a ring during six seasons with the Red Sox, while Kopech developed in Boston’s farm system before leading the trade for Chris Sale before the 2017 season.

Hernández made the most recent playoff impact for the Red Sox with a monstrous run through the 2021 postseason, hitting .408 with five home runs and the walk-off sacrifice fly that sent the Red Sox to the ALCS. Hernandez heads to the World Series with 15 career postseason homers.

New York and Los Angeles face off in Game 1 on Friday night at Dodger Stadium on FOX.
