How Tom Brady Routine Benefited Baker Mayfield’s Buccaneers

Tom Brady passed the torch to Baker Mayfield to lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That plan worked out last season when Mayfield led Tampa Bay to a fourth-consecutive postseason berth.

This season, the Buccaneers are off to a flying start with Mayfield performing as one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL. There’s a different vibe with the 2018 No. 1 overall pick in Tampa Bay, which led to a very public back-and-forth of comments between Mayfield and Brady in the media.

There doesn’t appear to be any bad blood between the two Buccaneers quarterbacks of the past and future. In fact, Brady’s routines stayed in Tampa Bay for Mayfield to continue.

NFL insider Albert Breer reported during pregame coverage of “Thursday Night Football” that Brady started a weekly meeting with team personnel executives such as Nick Caserio dating back to his days with the New England Patriots. Brady brought that to the NFC in meeting with Buccaneers executives weekly.

Breer reported that Mayfield now does the same and even sparked a scoring play against the Philadelphia Eagles, hitting Mike Evans for a touchdown based on a play the New Orleans Saints ran against Philadelphia in Week 3.

The Buccaneers look to continue their hot stretch with an NFC South battle against the Atlanta Falcons.
