Jets’ Haason Reddick Bluntly Calls Out Bill Belichick After Criticism

Bill Belichick has fielded a group of new fans for a willingness to speak his mind as an NFL analyst, but Haason Reddick is not among that company.

Reddick was one of the latest players to catch a straightforward criticism from Belichick. The future Pro Football Hall of Fame coach thought the veteran linebacker, playing in his first game with the Jets, allowed Patriots quarterbacks to make plays with their legs by overplaying pass-rush lanes. Drake Maye and Jacoby Brissett both found success against New York, which suffered a 25-22 loss in New England.

Football fans hadn’t heard much from Reddick, who was away from the Jets for months due to a contract standoff. But the two-time Pro Bowl selection had no problem calling out Belichick for a series of critiques.

“Aye someone call Bill Belichick and give him a job. Seems like he’s home bored and can’t keep me out of his mouth,” Reddick posted to X on Monday.

In Belichick’s defense, Reddick and company deserved to be criticized for their Week 8 performance. The Jets, who should’ve played very inspired football given recent events, allowed the lowly Patriots to march down the field with the game on the line and post a season-high point total. And three of New England’s four scoring drives were led by a quarterback who hadn’t played since Week 5.

Belichick might take aim at Gang Green again after Week 9, as the New York defense could be in store for a long day Sunday against C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans.
