Patriots Breakout Throws Massive Shot At Offensive Coaching Staff

Alex Van Pelt and his coaching staff didn’t endear themselves to Patriots fans to start the season, and they might be livid after hearing a breakout wide receiver’s comments.

Drake Maye helped give a boost to the fanbase as he’s been one of the few positives for New England since he took over as the starting quarterback in Week 6. Kayshon Boutte seemingly was a favorite target of Maye’s in his first two starts with a touchdown pass in Week 6 and another deep ball highlight in Week 7.

Boutte emerged among a wide receiver room with few standouts, but the second-year wideout revealed Wednesday those plays wouldn’t have happened if he had not asked for them, per Taylor Kyles of CLNS Media. Boutte added he shouldn’t have needed to ask for those deep targets since he hasn’t dropped a ball all season. The 22-year-old has eight receptions for 139 yards in five games.

Boutte also agreed with Jerod Mayo’s comment about the team playing “soft,” per 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Alex Barth. It came a week after Van Pelt admitted he was “proud” of Boutte’s work ethic.

It’s unknown if Boutte’s complaints already were known by Van Pelt and his staff nor is it known if the Patriots wideout will be internally punished by being so vocal about his displeasure. He did add to a seemingly growing list of disgruntled wide receivers.
