Patriots Fans Livid About This Aspect Of Drake Maye Injury Play

The Foxboro Faithful wanted a flag

The Patriots and their fans encountered yet another setback Sunday afternoon.

Drake Maye left New England’s Week 8 matchup with the New York Jets early in the second quarter due to a head injury. The Patriots initially listed the rookie quarterback as questionable to return, but head coach Jerod Mayo downgraded Maye to out at halftime.

Maye appeared to sustain the injury via a hit from Jamien Sherwood, who flew into tackle the 22-year-old while he was sliding at the end of a run. Their heads harshly collided, which left New England fans fuming about the lack of a helmet-to-helmet penalty.

Maye was replaced by veteran signal-caller Jacoby Brissett, who started New England’s first five games of the season.
