'Fire everybody'
The New York Jets might have hit rock bottom Sunday.
Gang Green recently made a series of marquee moves in hopes of turning their season around, including firing head coach Robert Saleh and trading for all-world receiver Davante Adams. After stumbling in Pittsburgh in Week 7, a trip to New England marked a golden opportunity for the Jets to start righting their ship.
New York’s situation became even more favorable when promising rookie quarterback Drake Maye was forced out of action at Gillette Stadium due to a concussion. But even with so many factors in their favor, the Jets still suffered a 25-22 loss to one of the NFL’s worst teams.
The disastrous decision set off Mike Greenberg, who called for New York to “fire everybody.” The ESPN host also summed up the magnitude of his favorite team’s demoralizing defeat.
“In a season filled with embarrassing performances, that was the worst,” Greenberg posted to X on Sunday. “In a history filled with horrible seasons, this may be the worst. The #Jets of 2024 are one of the truly colossal failures in recent sports memory. And it only gets worse from here.”
New York’s upcoming schedule isn’t very daunting, as winnable games against the Arizona Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, Seattle Seahawks, Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars are approaching on the docket. But at this point, it’s tough to pencil in any victories for Aaron Rodgers and company.
So as Greenberg mentioned, the misery in the Meadowlands might not be close to vanishing.
