Maye was added to the injury report Wednesday
Patriots fans experienced a scare Wednesday evening.
Shortly after New England put Maye on its latest injury report due to a knee issue, The Boston Globe’s Ben Volin revealed the rookie quarterback underwent an MRI. NBC Sports Boston’s Phil Perry looked into the situation and provided the Foxboro Faithful with a sigh of relief on “Boston Sports Tonight.”
“So, I’ve spoken to multiple people in the organization about this tonight. What I’ve been told is this knee injury to Drake Maye,” Perry said Wednesday night. “He was a full participant in practice today. We’ll be out there tomorrow. We’ll be able to watch him closely, see how he’s moving through warmups, individual drills, etc.”
Perry noted it’s unclear whether Maye sustained the knee injury in his first NFL start this past Sunday or at practice. However, the team insider stressed the Patriots aren’t concerned about the ailment and expect the 22-year-old to start Sunday when they battle the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.
Reporters are set to speak with offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt at 11 a.m. ET on Thursday and will have access to the Patriots locker room shortly thereafter, so more clarity about Maye’s injury could be gained at that time.
