Stephon Gilmore likes what he sees
Christian Gonzalez might just be the lone bright spot, yes the lone one, for the New England Patriots through a frustrating 1-4 start to the season.
Gonzalez beat Odell Beckham Jr. on his route for an interception against the Miami Dolphins that set up the only New England touchdown of the day from Rhamondre Stevenson. The Patriots cornerback had six tackles, two passes defended and an interception in the loss to the Dolphins.
That performance caught the attention of Stephon Gilmore, a key defender from New England’s last Super Bowl win. The current Minnesota Vikings cornerback had a game of his own Sunday morning in London, tallied an interception and six tackles to beat the New York Jets and stay undefeated.
Gilmore tuned into the Dolphins-Patriots matchup later in the day and showed his support for the newest lockdown corner in a lineage of impact players in New England.
“Ok Christian Gonzalez cold blooded keep going youngin,” Gilmore posted to X during Sunday’s game.”
Gonzalez met the challenge against another elite receiver to start the season Tyreek Hill to further solidify his status as arguably the best defensive player on the Patriots roster.
The Vikings head to their bye week while the Patriots host the Houston Texans in Week 6.
