Red Sox Legend Got Yankee Stadium Reaction You’d Expect At World Series

Yankees fans were ready to "greet" Big Papi

The New York Yankees welcomed a playoff rival to town before Game 3 of the 2024 World Series when Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz and the FOX broadcast crew arrived at Yankee Stadium.

Flanked by Yankees champions Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter, fans surrounding the set in the outfield made sure to let their former rival here it with a series of chants toward Ortiz. The three-time Red Sox champion laughed it off and had some fun with the crowd.

“C’mon man, show some love to Papi,” Ortiz exclaimed.

Ortiz did his fair share of damage against the Yankees over the years with 53 home runs against the New York and won the MVP award in the 2004 American League Championship Series when the Red Sox overcame a 3-0 series deficit.

The Yankees are in the World Series for the first time since 2009 and enter Game 3 down 2-0 in the series. The Dodgers delivered a series of clutch hits to win the first two games at home, including a walk-off grand slam from Freddie Freeman in Game 1.

Both teams feature several former Red Sox players with Alex Verdugo patrolling left field for the Yankees and 2018 AL MVP Mookie Betts contributing with the Dodgers.
