Yes, you read that headline correctly.
Rob Gronkowski — a future member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame — claims to know New York Yankees fan Austin Capobianco, the man who was ejected from Game 4 of the World Series for interfering with Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts.
It’s almost too ridiculous to believe, so just read what Gronkowski himself had to say in his Wednesday appearance on “Up & Adams” with Kay Adams.
“That guy right there, grabbing Mookie Betts’ glove, was my friend in college,” Gronkowski said while watching the video. “He was my friend in college. He was on the ice hockey team, the club Arizona Wildcats ice hockey team… Him doing that represents him very well. He’s all in on his teams, he’s all in on the Yankees… He’s a beauty. I just wanna say congratulations for shining when your moment came.”
Gronkowski went on to explain how “wild” Capobianco and his friends were back in college, while also calling the 38-year-old an “animal.”

Adams pushed back on the praise. So only as he could, Gronkowski condemned the behavior of the man he once called a friend… or so he’d like for us to believe.
“I think it’s truly unacceptable, that act of behavior,” Gronkowski said.
