This NFL Team Reportedly ‘Most Aggressive’ In Davante Adams Sweepstakes

A trade could be reached by early as next week

If Davante Adams had it his way, he reportedly would trade in his Las Vegas Raiders uniform for a New York Jets one.

But according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, one NFC team is working hard to prevent that from happening in an attempt to win the trade sweepstakes for itself.

“Adams, sources say, views the New York Jets and his old friend Aaron Rodgers, as his top choice for a landing spot,” Rapoport wrote Saturday night. “That’s where he wants to play. But it’s been the New Orleans Saints who have been the most aggressive, while other teams, including the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers, have closely monitored the situation and stayed in touch. The Jets remain very much in the mix, as well.”

Adams, 31, certainly wouldn’t be discouraged going to the Saints. Adams and Saints quarterback Derek Carr have developed a close friendship since playing college football together at Fresno State.

The Saints enter Week 5 leading the entire NFL with 31.8 points per game and armed with plenty of offensive firepower. But they certainly would welcome in a talented playmaker like Adams, especially after losing back-to-back games.

Adams posted 18 catches for 209 yards with a touchdown in three games this season and is expected to miss his second consecutive game Sunday due to a hamstring injury. But Rapaport noted Adams is reaching full strength, which could “accelerate” trade talks in the coming days with a potential deal being reached as early as next week.

And if the Saints have it their way, Adams will make his next NFL home not in New York, but in New Orleans.
