What Yankees Reportedly Did With Game 5 Tickets From Banned Fans

Even Red Sox fans have to credit the Yankees for this move

The New York Yankees turned a bad situation into a good one for Game 5 of the World Series on Wednesday night.

Two Yankees fans, who have been identified as Austin Capobianco and John Peter, were banned from attending the pivotal game at Yankee Stadium after they forcefully interfered with Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Mookie Betts in the bottom of the first inning in New York’s Game 4 win.

With a couple of seats freed up along the right-field line, the Yankees decided to do an act of kindness by giving the tickets to a fan in need.

“After banning those two fans from tonight’s game, the Yankees gave their tickets to Calvin Young, a 15-year-old cancer patient, and his family,” ESPN’s Jorge Castillo reported on the X platform an hour before first pitch. “He’ll attend tonight’s game with his mom and two younger brothers.”

Castillo added: “Young was invited to a ‘Kids Only’ press conference at Yankee Stadium on Sept. 13, but he got sick walking from his car to stadium and had to be taken to the hospital to have surgery. He was diagnosed with DSRCT sarcoma in June 2023.”

It’s a great move by the franchise after the terrible look for the organization by the way the two fans acted.

It’s unclear whether Capobianco, who allegedly is a season-ticket holder, will face any more consequences beyond his Game 5 ban. But whether the Yankees win or lose Wednesday, it will be the final game at Yankee Stadium this season.

And perhaps Young will bring some good mojo to the Yankees without having to interfere with a player on the field.
