Young Patriots Receiver Speaking Opportunities Into Existence

Boutte hauled in his first career touchdown on Sunday

Kayshon Boutte has had his fair share of ups and downs since the New England Patriots drafted him in 2023. The LSU product sparked high value as a sixth-round draft pick before finding himself in trouble amid a betting scandal.

Boutte returned to work this summer for the Patriots, determined to keep a roster spot after New England brought in several receivers in free agency and the draft. The second-year pass-catcher did make an impact in the preseason opener and verbally guaranteed his spot to the media in the following days.

Boutte backed up his confident take, making the 53-man roster to enter the season in search of his next chance to help the Patriots create plays on offense.

The New England wideout made his best impact in his NFL career to date Sunday against the Houston Texans, hauling in his first touchdown on the first scoring pass from rookie quarterback Drake Maye on a 40-yard play.

Boutte checked in as New England’s second-leading receiver in the 41-21 loss with three receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown. He’s not a regular game-breaker or consistent target at this point, but the Patriots, who need any spark on offense they can find, should be pleased with this progress.

Boutte and the Patriots seek to snap a five-game losing streak in London in Week 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
