Bruins Unveil Awesome Monument Amid Centennial Celebration

The Bruins are celebrating their centennial season in style!

Boston kicked off their weekend-long festivities by unveiling a new statue just outside of TD Garden on Saturday, one day prior to its centennial celebration game against the Montreal Canadiens.

It’s pretty awesome.

Boston’s newest statue was crafted by Harry Weber, the same sculptor who brought to life the famous Bobby Orr statue that stands outside TD Garden.

“The statue stands 6-feet tall, 10-feet long and weighs 3,500 pounds. The bear is composed of 90 individual bronze pieces all welded together, and positioned on a 28-inch plinth, which is inscribed with a message directed to the Boston community,” the Bruins revealed in a statement. “The inscription reflects the core values and legacy that the team and its fans have fostered in the city throughout its first century.”

The B’s will continue the celebration on Sunday, as all ticketed fans will receive individually numbered commemorative tickets to celebrate the historic milestone. Boston will also host a special pregame ceremony marked with appearances from several of the team’s alumni, which will look back on the club’s 100-year history, immortalizing legendary moments in a time capsule at center ice and capture the theme of passing the puck to the next generation.

It’s a special weekend in Boston.
