'It was something new, but no concerns'
David Pastrnak wanted to set the record straight Monday.
In a recent column published in Czech, Pastrnak revealed he dealt with an injury over the summer. The remarks indicated the Boston Bruins star was hampered by the issue for over a month and was forced to tweak his typical offseason schedule.
But speaking with the media before the B’s embarked on their latest road trip, Pastrnak provided clarity on his status.
“It was more a question about the summer, you know? I played in the World Championships with an injury, so that was taken out of context,” Pastrnak told reporters, per team-provided video. “I would say I’m fine right now. …(My conditioning) is much better right now. Last couple games, I felt good. My legs are moving pretty well.”
Pastrnak added: “It didn’t interrupt much. I still could train, just couldn’t do everything. Probably a couple weeks — three, four weeks. I still had plenty of time to do my trainings. Honestly, that was the first time I was dealing with something in the summer. You have your routines, you know? You have your schedule you usually follow. It was something new, but no concerns.”
The star winger entered Tuesday leading the Bruins in goals, assists and total points, but he clearly hasn’t been satisfied by his early season play. However, Boston’s alternate captain believes it’s just a matter of finding his “scoring touch.”
Pastrnak will try to gain some momentum in St. Louis, where the Bruins will meet the Blues for a 2019 Stanley Cup Final rematch. NESN’s complete coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET.
