Fleet Waive Three Players Ahead Of Start Of PWHL Season

Local-favorite Jillian Dempsey appears to have made the final roster

The Fleet made roster moves ahead of the start of the 2024-25 PWHL season.

Boston waived goalie Cami Kronish, forward Ilona Markova and defender Maude Poulin-Labelle, as announced by the league Tuesday. Teams have until Wednesday at 3 p.m. ET to offer players contracts.

Kronish competed with Klara Peslarova in training camp for the third goalie spot behind Aerin Frankel and Emma Söderberg. It’s likely Peslarova’s experience edged out Kronish for the goalie spot.

The Fleet drafted Markova in the seventh round of the 2024 PWHL Draft, but the Russian forward did not feature much in training camp. Her placement on waivers makes it likely that camp invitee and local favorite Jillian Dempsey earned a spot on Boston’s roster.

Poulin-Labelle arrived in Boston after a season with the Toronto Sceptres. Her placement on waivers became likely after the Fleet signed seventh-round pick Hadley Hartmetz to a one-year contract.

The Fleet embark on their season season in the PWHL after falling short in the Walter Cup Finals. Courtney Kessel’s side begins the season this Saturday against Toronto at Coca-Cola Coliseum.
