NFL Insider’s View Of Patriots’ Trade Deadline Reiterates Massive Failure

There seemed to be a sentiment within the NFL industry that New England would do more

The Patriots didn’t make any trades Tuesday, which not only surprised fans but also NFL insiders.

New England wasn’t going to get dramatically better if it did make moves before the trade deadline. But it was an opportunity to deal away unhappy veterans or players on expiring contracts and give more opportunities to potential cornerstone players.

Fans were disappointed by the lack of action from Eliot Wolf and his staff, and it seemed like an NFL insider expected more.

“I’m also a little surprised that the Patriots didn’t move anyone outside of edge rusher Joshua Uche,” ESPN’s Dan Graziano wrote Wednesday.

Teams reportedly tried calling New England to try to make a blockbuster deal. Multiple players were floated in trade rumors. However, it didn’t seem like teams were eager to acquire players like K.J. Osborn or others who didn’t carry much name value.

Head coach Jerod Mayo and his staff will have to make do with the roster for the second half of the season. And Wolf and the Patriots front office will prepare for what should be a pivotal offseason.
