Brown and Nike Basketball won't be sending each other Christmas cards
Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown and Nike Basketball continue to involve themselves in a war of words.
Brown on Thursday afternoon responded to a social media post from the brand and wrote: “Yall got weird energy.”
To understand Brown’s quote-tweet and response, you have to understand the initial post from Nike Basketball.
Nike Basketball on Thursday morning threw shade at Brown when it defended Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Antetokounmpo received a shout-out from Nike Basketball after he scored 59 points in an overtime win over the Detroit Pistons.
“Nothing childish about ’em. 59 for the Greek freak,” Nike Basketball wrote on X.
It was a not-so-subtle reference to Brown, who called Antetokounmpo a “child” a few days prior. Antetokounmpo irritated Brown and the Celtics on Sunday with his mid-game antics, which included a high-five fakeout during Boston’s drama-filled win.
Brown’s problems with Nike Basketball didn’t start Thursday, of course. Brown has been outspoken against Nike and blamed the brand for being left off the USA Basketball roster before Olympic Games Paris 2024.
