MLB Insider Feels ‘Most Interested’ In Enticing Red Sox Offseason

Boston has to make a splash

The Boston Red Sox continue to generate buzz before the first round of statement transaction during the MLB offseason.

While teams don’t have to wait until then, the first flurry of big-time moves will likely come in December. Boston should be aggressive and in that conversation, which this MLB insider recently emphasized as a growing narrative around the industry.

“The Red Sox are the team when I’m talking to people around the game that people are most interested in,” Yahoo Sports MLB insider Russell Dorsey said on MLB Network’s “Hot Stove” Monday. “Is this the year that the Red Sox do something big? It’s been awhile. We haven’t seen them do something big since they signed Rafael Devers to that $300 million extension.”

Dorsey commended Boston for securing manager Alex Cora on a three-year extension and solidifying stars in Devers and Jarren Duran. The biggest question of the winter for teams adamant to add stars will be the free-agent decision of Juan Soto. Even if the Red Sox lose the bidding war for the generational talent, that shouldn’t make for a somber winter in Boston.

“I think there’s a way the Red Sox can have a big offseason without signing Juan Soto,” Dorsey expressed.

Dorsey even offered a pair of hypotheticals of acquisition trios the Red Sox could pursue to truly make a splash this winter and legitimize the roster.

The first? Sign outfielder Teoscar Hernández, sign left-handed starter Max Fried and trade for Milwaukee Brewers closer Devin Williams.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

The second, and quite frankly, maybe the best overall set of moves Boston could make? Sign Hernández, trade for future ace Garrett Crochet from the Chicago White Sox and sign elite left-handed reliever Tanner Scott.

“I think a combination of a lot of things could set the Red Sox up for a big-time 2025,” Dorsey added.

Now, the question becomes when do the Red Sox strike for their first move?
