New Juan Soto Report Will Excite Red Sox Fans Even More

Boston reportedly is serious about Soto

The Red Sox’s pursuit of Juan Soto is starting to feel very real.

The first Boston-Soto report of the MLB offseason might not have moved the needle for the Fenway Faithful. A rumor floated shortly after the 2024 World Series concluded indicated the Red Sox were interested in the star outfielder, but that almost went without saying considering Soto is one of the game’s best players.

However, Craig Breslow and company might be doing more than their due diligence. Boston reportedly will meet with the four-time All-Star this week, and the New York Post’s Jon Heyman on Monday called the Red Sox “legit players” in the Soto sweepstakes.

To be clear, a serious pursuit doesn’t mean Soto will end up calling Fenway Park home. Both New York teams seemingly have a better chance than Boston of signing the 26-year-old, who’s in line to fetch one of the most expensive contracts in baseball history. But the Red Sox’s reported presence in the arm’s race for Soto indicates the club is open to the idea of spending top dollar for supreme talent.

So, if Soto ultimately lands in the Big Apple or somewhere other than Jersey Street, Red Sox fans potentially could receive consolation prizes in the form of other above-average players.
