Red Sox Reportedly Agree To Contract With Journeyman Reliever

The Red Sox made their first on-field addition of the offseason on Thursday.

Boston is in agreement on a contract with journeyman relief pitcher Justin Wilson, according to Robert Murray of FanSided.

Wilson, 37, has been around for quite a while, spending time with the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs, New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds across the last decade. The left-hander was out of baseball in 2023, but returned to make 60 appearances with the Reds last season — procuring a 5.59 ERA and 4.73 FIP while sitting in the 95th percentile of chase rate.

It’s a big-league deal, with Rob Bradford of Audacy confirming that it is “in the ballpark” of the $1.5 million contract he signed last offseason with Cincy.
