Red Sox Rumors: Boston Has ‘Interest’ In Former Fan-Favorite

Nathan Eovaldi back to Boston?

The Red Sox are expected to target front-line starting pitchers this offseason.

Boston isn’t holding itself to an insane standard, though, as the expectation is it will be in on middle-of-the-rotation guys, as well — including one former fan favorite.

Audacy’s Rob Bradford reported on Tuesday that the club was “one of about a dozen teams who have shown some level of interest” in Texas Rangers pitcher Nathan Eovaldi — who spent five seasons in Boston from 2018-2022.

Eovaldi became a cult hero for his performance in the 2018 World Series when he saved the bullpen with an insane showing in Game 3 against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Red Sox lost that game but went on to win the series, as well as his start against the New York Yankees in the 2021 American League Wild Card Game.

The Red Sox would be wise to bring back the 35-year-old, especially if they believe there’s a chance they find their way back to the postseason in 2025.

Boston will clearly have some competition, though, with the Atlanta Braves reportedly being one of the teams interested in signing him this offseason.
