'We haven't done anything yet'
Buddy Hield viewed the Warriors’ 118-112 win over the Celtics on Wednesday night at TD Garden as a “statement” victory.
Golden State’s leader and best player, however, didn’t see it that way.
Steve Kerr’s side certainly deserves a great deal of credit for its triumph on Causeway Street. The Warriors took down a Boston team that won seven of its first eight games, with all but one of those victories by double digits. However, with the season still in its infancy, Stephen Curry didn’t get too wrapped up in what his team achieved Wednesday.
“We haven’t done anything yet,” Curry told reporters, per ESPN. “A good team, or a relevant team, wins the games they are supposed to win, you steal a couple on the road against good teams, you protect your home court. We’ve done those things so far, but we got two more games on this road trip, two tough tests.
“So I like where we’re at, obviously. But (there’s a) long way to go.”
Maybe Curry will feel just a little bit differently if Golden State concludes its four-game road trip with another victory. The Warriors on Friday night will visit the Cleveland Cavaliers, who improved to 9-0 with a win in New Orleans on Wednesday.
The Celtics, meanwhile, will try to bounce back Friday when they host the Brooklyn Nets.
