Blake Snell unsurprisingly is a hot commodity
The Boston Red Sox aren’t the only ballclub showing interest in two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell.
No surprise, right?
The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal on Thursday reported Snell recently met with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Red Sox. It’s possible Snell also “met, or will meet” with the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays, according to Rosenthal.
“And it goes without saying: Other teams likely are in the mix,” Rosenthal wrote.
Rosenthal, citing unnamed executives from two of Snell’s former clubs, believes the 32-year-old left-hander “would not be reluctant to pitch in the pressure-packed Boston market.” He is seeking an earlier resolution in free agency compared to his mid-March signing last offseason and wants to play for a winner and get paid, Rosenthal wrote.
The trusted MLB insider also noted the Red Sox are “talking to” Corbin Burnes and Max Fried. Fried is on vacation and will meet with clubs when he returns, Rosenthal wrote.
