Did the former Patriots head coach really hand UNC a 400-page 'bible?'
Bill Belichick was introduced as North Carolina head coach Thursday, and the former New England Patriot didn’t lose his fastball.
The results on the field are still to be determined, but Belichick’s behavior in his introductory news conference was a familiar sight for fans. The 72-year-old showed off his father’s old hoodie and gave varying answers to reporters.
Belichick was dumbfounded when a reporter asked him about an alleged 400-page “bible” he reportedly handed to UNC leadership.
“I have no idea where that came from. I don’t have a 400-page document,” Belichick said, as seen on NBC Sports Boston. “And to think I’d just go out handing it out. I mean, come on.”
Belichick’s exasperated reaction drew a laugh from the crowd in attendance. However, it must have been awkward if the media member who reported on such a document was in the room, too.
It would be surprising if the eight-time Super Bowl champion didn’t come into North Carolina with some sort of plan. Longtime colleague Michael Lombardi was quickly named general manager, and multiple former Belichick assistants reportedly could join him in Chapel Hill.
Belichick’s transition to college will be interesting to watch as will be his reactions to reports about him.
