Boston is 2-2-0
The Boston Fleet return from their holiday break to face the Toronto Sceptres north of the border at Coca-Cola Coliseum in the PWHL’s 100th game on Friday night.
The Fleet entered the 10-day break on a two-game winning streak following a 3-2 victory at home against the Ottawa Charge on Dec. 17.
Boston is just four games into its 2024-25 season and owns a split record of 2-2-0. The Fleet will look to exact revenge against Toronto after suffering a 3-1 opening night loss to the Sceptres to kick off the PWHL’s second season.
Heading out for a six-game road trip, the Fleet will rely on goaltender Aerin Frankel’s continued dominance between the pipes to propel Boston up in the standings. The Northeastern product leads the league with a .924 save percentage, and the small but mighty netminder has a modest 2.02 goals-against average to begin her second season in Boston.
Head coach Courtney Kessel’s squad will need to generate offense to match its goaltender’s outstanding play and keep winning games. Only two players — Hilary Knight and Megan Keller — have scored more than once and have more than two points.
With six points through four games, the Fleet are fourth in the league behind the Minnesota Frost (12), New York Sirens (9) and Montreal Victoire (7) in the standings.
Boston will play Toronto and Ottawa once on the trip and face off against Montreal and Minnesota twice before returning home to the Tsongas Center to take on the Sirens on Jan. 31. All games will be televised on NESN, NESN + or NESN 360.
