The Yankees will get a final crack at Soto
The Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers are all believed to be in contention for Juan Soto, but only one will be given the final crack at signing the superstar outfielder.
MLB.com insider Mark Feinsand believes it’ll be his most recent club.
“I think the Yankees believe they will have a final crack to match or beat whatever the best offer they have is, so why throw out your final number now? Soto and (agent) Scott Boras aren’t signing without taking that final deal back to the Yankees,” Feinsand said Tuesday.
Feinsand seems pretty confident that will lead to a reunion.
“I won’t count the Yankees out of this race until I see Soto put on another jersey at a press conference next week in Dallas,” he said.
Soto reportedly has already received offers of $600 million or more from each of the teams listed, and it is believed the 26-year-old has started eliminating teams from his list. Boston, much like the other four teams, will have an opportunity for one last meeting with the free agent, but that likely will come before their arch-rivals.
