Boston and New York could get into a bidding war for Max Fried
It feels likely Max Fried spends the next few years pitching in the American League East.
It’s just not yet known which AL East team the left-hander will represent.
The Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays continue to show interest in Fried while the San Francisco Giants reportedly are in the mix, as well.
As it relates to the Bronx Bombers, Fried apparently “really liked” meeting with the ballclub Tuesday.
“The Yankees had a 90-minute Zoom call with Max Fried yesterday, and it supposedly went very well,” Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay shared on Wednesday’s episode of “The Michael Kay Show.”
“Somebody who’s on the Fried side said that Max really really liked them and apparently they’re going to have another meeting, as well.”
MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand believes the Red Sox and Yankees could get involved in a bidding war for Fried, who headlines the pitching market in free agency with Corbin Burnes. New York Post’s Jon Heyman projected the Red Sox will sign Fried on a six-year, $166 million deal.
