Red Sox Insider Shares Fascinating Intel On Alex Bregman’s Free Agency

The Red Sox reportedly are interested in Bregman

As top MLB players continue to be plucked off the open market, more and more eyes are being redirected to Alex Bregman.

Bregman is one of the best players still available in free agency. Four teams reportedly have separated themselves as the “strongest bidders” for the two-time World Series champion, who might be the Red Sox’s top target now that the Juan Soto sweepstakes are over.

According to MassLive’s Chris Cotillo, not everyone in Boston’s camp is convinced the star third baseman will take his talents to Fenway Park. But there reportedly is a similar vibe among Astros personnel, who believe Bregman very well could reunite with Alex Cora.

“Interestingly, there are people in the Red Sox organization who believe Bregman is likely to stay with the Astros, while some prominent Astros folks think he’ll end up with the Red Sox,” Cotillo wrote in a column published Wednesday.

Bregman already turned down a six-year, $156 million offer from Houston, per Cotillo. The Red Sox insider, citing industry sources, believes the 30-year-old ultimately will land a seven-year deal with a total value nearing or even exceeding $200 million.

We already saw one team go above and beyond to land a top talent after missing out on Juan Soto. And if the Red Sox want to bring Bregman to Boston, they might have to take a similar path.
