NFL Rumors: Patriots Request Interview With Another Sought-After Coach

Both Detroit coordinators are gaining interest from New England

The Patriots clearly respect what the Lions are doing this season, and want to hear more about it.

New England on Wednesday requested to interview Detroit defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer. The Patriots reportedly have an interview scheduled with Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson on Friday.

Robert Kraft and company are one of six teams searching for a head coach after the Patriots fired first-year head coach Jerod Mayo.

Glenn has been requested to interview by all six teams with vacancies, something not even top coaching candidate Mike Vrabel can say at this point. The Patriots have an interviewed scheduled with Vrabel on Thursday.

The 52-year-old Glenn, a first-round pick in 1994, has worked in the league since 2012. He’s served as the defensive coordinator in Detroit since 2021 following a five-year stretch with the New Orleans Saints and additional stops with the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets.
