Radio Host Immediately Regrets Asking Patriots Legend About Tom Brady

Vince Wilfork would like to keep some of his Brady thoughts to himself

Tom Brady’s broadcasting career appears to be a touchy subject for some of his New England Patriots teammates.

Brady’s first year as a FOX Sports color commentator received mixed reviews. The future Hall of Fame quarterback sometimes offers interesting insight, but there also were times he was an afterthought compared to his broadcasting colleagues.

Vince Wilfork did a radio hit for WFAN’s “Boomer and Gio,” and Gregg Giannotti felt it would have been fun to ask the Patriots Hall of Famer about Brady as a broadcaster. Wilfork gave the host a serious staredown.

“I’ve never been stared at like that in my life,” Giannotti said Tuesday. “Other than my wife has given me those eyes.”

The moment was played for laughs as Boomer Esiason couldn’t stop laughing at Wilfork’s reaction to the question. It seemed like the 43-year-old had a lot to say about his former teammate’s broadcasting career that he didn’t want to disclose.

“I mean, he’s very knowledgeable at the game,” Wilfork said. “That’s what it is, but I would rather he be my quarterback than on TV doing what he’s doing now. I love him for my quarterback.”

Wilfork acknowledged that Brady’s role as part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders limited him as a broadcaster. However, it’s hard not to read between the lines and guess that the retired defensive tackle is in lock-step with fans who aren’t the biggest fan of Brady as a color commentator.

Brady will get to call Super Bowl LIX, so more people will get to voice their opinions of him as he steps onto a larger stage.
