Arenado's name stays active in trade rumors
Nolan Arenado’s name is at the center of Boston Red Sox rumors yet again at the latest point of the offseason.
The All-Star third baseman expressed his willingness to join the Red Sox and waive his no-trade clause in order to do so. He’d upgrade the team defensively and balance the lineup with an established right-handed bat.
Boston already made steady improvements with an upgraded starting rotation this winter. The question becomes how the deal gets done and if the Red Sox indeed target him as their latest roster solution.
Tom Caron, Lou Merloni and The Boston Globe’s Julian McWilliams addressed how Arenado would affect the 2025 Red Sox on the latest edition of NESN’s “310 To Left” podcast.
“It’s very complicated when it comes to Nolan Arenado,” Merloni said. “But if they made it work, sure. He’s one of the best third basemen of his generation. That’s the difference between him and (Alex) Bregman. He stays at third base. … It’s just very complicated but I would take him.”
“I would love to cover him every day,” McWilliams said. “I would love to see clean baseball.”
