This offensive unit had a rough 2024 season
Mike Vrabel made it very clear what he wants to see out of New England Patriots players going forward.
The new Patriots head coach wants them to be professional and accountable both on and off the field. They certainly missed that mark this past season under Jerod Mayo.
George Balekji and Travis Thomas reacted to the standard Vrabel is looking to set on the latest episode of NESN’s “Boston Has Entered The Chat” podcast. And Balekji felt Vrabel’s comments were directed at a specific position group for the Patriots.
“You know who I keep picturing that entire answer? The wide receiver room,” Balekji said. “Think about him listing out basically what he expects and for him when he says as long as they respect the team, how they treat the team, I’ll treat them. Be on time, be in shape, study, be prepared. And also he said, if they disrespect anyone on the support staff, which means anyone in the building, they’re out of here. Think about the wide receivers speaking out against the play-calling, speaking out on social media.”
A young wide receiver had plenty of missteps in 2024, from on-field outbursts from Ja’Lynn Polk and DeMario Douglas to Kayshon Boutte calling out Alex Van Pelt’s play-calling. Like Polk, who said he had the best hands in the NFL despite dropping several passes, Javon Baker also had a turbulent rookie season.
That group certainly will need to clean things up next season or they won’t last with Vrabel now in charge.
