Boston looks to play postseason baseball for the first time since 2021
The Boston Red Sox have the pieces to end a three-year postseason drought in 2025.
MLB.com’s Will Leitch certainly advocated for that to be true in his season predictions column Wednesday. He listed Boston as a wild-card team along with the Toronto Blue Jays while the Baltimore Orioles win the American League East in his story.
“Either way, the Red sox might be the second-best team in the AL, especially if Rafael Devers gives up third base to Alex Bregman and becomes a DH,” Leitch wrote.
Even with a slew of early season pitching problems, the newcomers to the rotation and the revamped lineup have Boston ready to compete with a roster injected with talent and much-needed depth, especially given the second-half slumps that solidified the recent postseason absences for Boston.
This path for the Red Sox begins March 27 when Boston opens the regular season in Texas against the Rangers.
