Ex-Teammate Believes Red Sox Got ‘Star’ In Rafael Devers Trade

Kyle Harrison has a big fan in Logan Webb

Rafael Devers is now a member of the San Francisco Giants.

The Boston Red Sox shocked the baseball world by shipping out their disgruntled superstar on Sunday, receiving a package of players in in return that includes some end-of-the rotation starting pitchers and a couple of prospects.

Jordan Hicks will be integrated into the starting rotation rather quickly, while outfielder James Tibbs III and pitcher Jose Bello still have considerable time left on their prospect clocks. Kyle Harrison is an interesting case, however, as many people believe he’ll develop into a stud for his new organization.

Giants pitcher Logan Webb stopped the youngster and told him just that after news of the trade came down Sunday, according to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Alex Pavlovic.

“(You’ll) be a star over there,” Webb said.

Harrison will just have to wait a bit before making his now-former teammate’s prognostications come to life. Boston optioned the left-handed starter to Triple-A Worcester, where he’ll look to further develop his secondary pitches before eventually making his debut with the big league club.
