NBA Rumors: Luke Kornet Leaves Celtics, Agrees To Sign In Western Conference

Kornet reportedly is headed to the Spurs

The Boston Celtics reportedly lost another key member of its team on Monday night.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports the San Antonio Spurs are signing Luke Kornet to a four-year, $41 million deal.

Brad Stevens recently spoke about Kornet, making it clear that they intended to keep him in Boston.

“There’s no question our priorities would be to bring Al and Luke back,” Stevens told reporters. “Those guys are huge parts of this organization. They’re going to have, I’m sure, plenty of options all over the place, and that’s well deserved. But I think that would be a priority, and at the same time, I don’t want to put pressure on them. It’s their call, ultimately. But yeah, we would love to have those guys back.”

However, Kornet is now headed to the Spurs, and Horford could be on the way out, too.

NBA Insider Brett Siegel reports that the Golden State Warriors are reportedly targeting Horford after losing Kevon Looney to the New Orleans Pelicans in free agency.

Kornet has flourished with the Celtics over the past few years, finishing the 2024-25 season averaging 6.0 points and 5.3 rebounds in 73 appearances. Last year, he opted to take a pay cut, re-signing with Boston on a minimum deal. But now, he finally gets a big payday.

So far this offseason, the Celtics traded Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis to help cut costs, but now are without Kornet and potentially Horford if the Warriors get their way.

Stevens better start making some calls and getting these deals done!
