Undrafted out of Washington in 1978, Moon dominated the Canadian Football League first, winning five consecutive Grey Cups with the Edmonton Eskimos from 1978-1982 before entering the NFL with the Houston Oilers in 1984 at age 28.

He quickly became a prolific passer, leading the league in yards twice (4,689 in 1990, 4,690 in 1991) and earning Offensive Player of the Year in 1990 with 33 touchdowns.

Over 10 seasons with the Oilers, Moon set franchise records with 33,685 yards and 196 touchdowns, guiding them to seven straight playoff appearances from 1987-1993, including a memorable 1993 wild-card comeback.

Traded to the Minnesota Vikings in 1994, he threw for over 4,200 yards in back-to-back years, then added stints with Seattle (1997-1998) and Kansas City (1999-2000), earning nine Pro Bowl selections total.

Moon’s NFL career totals stand at 49,325 passing yards and 291 touchdowns across 208 games. Combining CFL stats, he amassed over 70,000 yards.
