Lucas Giolito got bumped to Sunday
The Boston Red Sox made a slight tweak on Friday.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora elected to tinker with his pitching rotation ahead of his squad’s series with the Houston Astros, sliding Lucas Giolito back into his regularly scheduled spot in the order, while sliding back trade deadline addition Dustin May, according to The Boston Globe’s Tim Healey.
Giolito will pitch Sunday, while May will make his debut with the club on Wednesday against the Kansas City Royals.
Why?
It’s not too difficult a reason to decipher. Boston wanted to avoid giving the veteran too much time between starts.
Giolito’s start will come on regular rest, while May — who has dealt with significant injuries throughout his career — will receive nine days off as he gets acclimated to his new home after being acquired just hours prior to the trade deadline on Thursday.
