Yankees Commentators Bash New York For Blowout Loss Vs. Red Sox

Boston left a mark on New York with its 12-1 victory

The Boston Red Sox have had the New York Yankees’ number all season long, and that has never been clearer than during the ongoing series between the two teams. After the Red Sox picked up a 12-1 victory over the Yankees on Saturday, they have now won eight straight games against their longtime rival.

With the win, Boston earned a series victory over New York, and they will be going for the sweep on Sunday. The Sox have won games in a variety of ways. On Saturday, they blew out the Yanks, but just one day before, they had to grind out a narrow 1-0 victory.

The Red Sox have lost just one game to the Yankees this season, and it’s clear that frustrations are boiling over in New York. After Carlos Narvaez hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning on Saturday to push the lead to its final score of 12-1, Yankees broadcasters Michael Kay and Paul O’Neill ripped into the team.

Losing always hurts, but whenever you lose in the most legendary rivalry in baseball, it always feels worse. Add in the fact that Boston has dominated New York this year, and losing in blowout fashion on Saturday was enough to push Kay and O’Neill over the edge.

And yet, at the end of the day, it’s only one game. The Red Sox only have a two-game lead over the Yankees for the top American League wild card spot, and they are going to have to continue to play their best baseball if they want to maintain their playoff position.

A great way to put even more distance between themselves and the Yanks would be to complete the four-game sweep on Sunday. Dustin May will be taking the mound against Carlos Rodon, with the first pitch being scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET.
