Bruins GM Gives David Pastrnak Training Camp Injury Update

How long will Pasta be sidelined?

The Boston Bruins began training camp on Wednesday and will start on-ice activities on Thursday.

General manager Don Sweeney said on Wednesday that the team will be without superstar forward David Pastrnak due to injury, though he’s hoping that it’ll be a short-term issue.

“Don Sweeney: David Pastrnak won’t skate for first few days of training camp as he deals with tendonitis. Sounds confident it won’t be more than a few days,” MassLive’s Lauren Campbell posted on Bluesky.

According to a report by Campbell, “Pasta” may be on the ice “at times,” but won’t be a “full participant.”

If the Bruins are to bounce back from last season’s rare absence from the playoffs, they’ll need Pastrnak to be healthy. Boston missed the postseason in 2024-25 for the first time since 2016.

The 29-year-old finished last season with 43 goals and tied his career-high of 63 assists. Pastrnak was also as durable as ever, playing in all 82 regular season contests for the third consecutive campaign.

For now, the situation surrounding the former first-round pick doesn’t seem serious.

Per Campbell’s report, Sweeney said that Pastrnak’s injury is a load management precaution, and he should be back as a full practice participant next week.
