Celtics’ Jaylen Brown Opens Up On Boston’s Offseason Roster Changes

'It’s a little bit sad'

The Boston Celtics made several roster changes this offseason, which left star guard Jaylen Brown feeling disheartened about parting ways with teammates he had built relationships with over the years.

“It’s a little bit sad, you know, a lot of the guys I spent a lot of time with,” Brown said Monday, via Celtics on CLNS. “We got five new players that we gotta get on boarded. So you guys can see like a really good product when we get to the floor.”

Boston traded guard Jrue Holiday and forward Kristaps Porzingis, and allowed centers Al Horford and Luke Kornet to leave in free agency.

Brown will lead the Celtics this season, with star forward Jayson Tatum dealing with an Achilles injury.

Boston needs to incorporate several new faces, including guards Anfernee Simons and Hugo Gonzalez, as well as big men Chris Boucher, Josh Minott and Luka Garza.

Brown has a few essential responsibilities to manage this season. He will serve as Boston’s primary scoring option while also helping new players adapt to the team, allowing the Celtics to hopefully start winning games from the very first week of the season.
